cope

The verb "cope" is similar to "manage" or "deal with" We use this word to describe how a person takes care of a situation, usually a difficult situation. For example:

• She’s not coping very well with the death of her mother.
• How do you cope with three jobs?
• How long has he had to cope with his disease?
• He has some serious issues that he has to cope with.
• I can’t cope with this!
• People who cope with their problems through alcohol or drugs are just creating more problems for themselves.

In addition to all the problems he has to cope with, he’s been having car trouble.
